Health Questionnaire:
Before the circumcision procedure, the patient (or the patient’s parent/guardian, if the patient is a child) will be required to fill out a health questionnaire. This questionnaire gathers important medical information about the patient, such as medical history, allergies, current medications, and any existing health conditions. Providing this information helps the medical team ensure the safety and suitability of the procedure for the patient.
Consultation:
The surgeon performing the circumcision will conduct a consultation with the patient (or the patient’s parents/guardians). During this, the surgeon will discuss what the procedure entails, potential risks or complications that may arise, and the necessary post-operative care.
Informed Consent:
To proceed with the circumcision procedure, informed consent from both parents is mandatory. Informed consent means that the parents have been fully informed about the procedure, its potential risks, benefits, and alternatives, and they willingly agree to proceed with the circumcision. There may be rare situations where only one parent’s consent is required, such as if one parent has passed away.
